Glenarm Castle Highlander Challenge Tuesday 14th & Wednesday 15th July

Sponsored by P & O Irish Sea

This year’s main event will have a bit of a twist with world class athletes competing in the Highlander Challenge.  This will be a mix of traditional highland, gladiatorial and traditional feats of strength interwoven with some historical background.  The Highlander Challenge will take place over the two-day event with the finals and presentations taking place in the later part of day two.  We’ll be featuring new athletes as well as welcoming back some familiar faces.

International Sheep Shearing Competition will again be returning on Tuesday 14th.  Spectators will certainly be on the edge of their seats as the competitors race against each other and the clock to win top prize as Best Quality Shearing. Multiple World Champion, David Fegan, will be competing at Glenarm.

We’ll be welcoming back the fearless Pole Climbers this year.  Visitors can see them climb 90 feet high as they chase the title of Ireland’s fastest pole climber. The Winner will recieve prize money of £1000 for their effort.

We're delighted to be welcoming new-comer and celebrity chef, Jenny Bristow this year who will be visiting our Fine Food Marquee to cook up some great recipes with local produce. Danny Millar (Great British Menu Finalist) will also be cooking Glenarm Organic Salmon during the two days. Also, new to Glenarm this year will be an All Breed Open Dog Show and Companion Dog show that will take place on day two, supported by Jollyes Petfood Superstore.

Other attractions at the Highlander Challenge include: livestock competitions, rare breeds, Scottish and Irish Dancing and traditional music, solo piping and drumming competition, traditional crafts, Chainsaw wood sculpting, funfair rides, Wall of Death, quality food outlets and trade stands as well as some new entertainment and displays.

This really is a great day out for all the family, with something for everyone.
